Please note: The Transfer Station may be closed due to a holiday. Please check for postings at the facility, on our website, or our Facebook page.
House Rules
We ask that you please be patient and courteous! If you ever have a question or concern, please feel free to reach out, we're more than happy to assist you.
No dumpster diving. Even though an item might seem neat and reusable, it's a liability and safety issue to enter the containers. Please, under NO circumstances should you ever enter a dumpster or container.
We only accept recycling generated in the City of Claremont. The facility reserves the right to open and inspect bags for compliance based on reasonable suspicion that materials may have originated outside the city.
A valid transfer station window decal must be visible.
No hazardous waste is accepted.
Speed Limit 5 MPH.
All persons and vehicles entering the transfer station do so at their own risk.
Video and audio recording at the transfer station takes place 24 hours a day.
If you have an emergency, please contact 911 and/or a transfer attendant immediately.

Trash
Trash, also known as municipal solid waste (MSW), will be picked up curbside.
Claremont residents can purchase stickers from Golden Cross Ambulance (open 24 hours - CASH ONLY) or the Claremont Transfer Station.

Residents then contact DeCamp Waste to notify us of your purchase (this is only necessary the first time you acquire stickers). At this time you will be informed as to what day your trash should be placed on the curb for pickup.

Construction & Demolition (C&D)
Construction and demolition (C&D) waste is generated from construction, renovation, repair, and demolition of houses and other buildings. C&D waste can be made up of wood, steel, concrete, gypsum, masonry, plaster, insulation, metal, and asphalt.
Claremont residents should contact DeCamp Waste to make proper disposal arrangements. Options could range from curbside pickup to a dumpster rental depending on the items and the quantity.

Option 1: All of your recyclables go into one bag and are placed in the single stream container.

Scrap Metal
Put simply, scrap metal is the combination of waste metal, metallic material and any product that contains metal that is capable of being recycled from previous consumption or product manufacturing.
Examples of scrap metal are stoves, toasters, tire rims, bicycles, etc.
All scrap metal is FREE for disposal.
Note: Items with freon are an additional charge (i.e. dehumidifiers, air conditioners etc.).

Claremont residents may bring in leaves, grass clippings, and twigs measuring less than 1/2" in diameter for FREE. Wood stove ash is not accepted.
Leaves must be in compostable bags or removed from plastic bags.

Alkaline
Alkaline batteries (including zinc carbon and zinc chloride batteries) are the standard AA, C and D cells, and 9-volts used to power products like flashlights, remote controls and small electronic devices. Alkaline batteries on the market now are not hazardous and can be disposed of as solid waste.

Button Cell
Button cell batteries are the small batteries mostly used in hearing aids, calculators and watches. They may contain mercury, a toxic heavy metal, making it illegal to dispose of them in the trash. Handle them as a universal waste, and keep them separate from non-mercury batteries. Cover the battery contacts with tape, or place batteries in plastic bags, individually. Did you know that damaging a button cell battery can cause a fire? That's why proper disposal is so important.

Lead-acid batteries include those used in vehicles, motorcycles, boats and emergency lighting.

Rechargeable
Rechargeable batteries are nickel-cadmium (Ni- Cd), lithium ion (Li-ion), nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) and small, sealed lead-acid (Pb) batteries used to power electronic devices like phones, computers and cameras. These batteries cannot be disposed of as solid waste because they contain cadmium, lithium and lead, which are toxic metals.
